Australia Awards alumni are LEADERS, INFLUENCERS and CHANGE-MAKERS.
Recipients of Australia Awards become part of the Australia Global Alumni network, which connects them with Australia and with one another. Through this network, alumni build lifelong professional relationships and contribute to a global community of leaders, influencers, and advocates who strengthen connections between Australia and their home countries.
Graduates of Australian educational institutions are widely recognised for their skills, expertise, and leadership. Their Australian qualifications equip them with the knowledge and experience to contribute effectively in a rapidly changing global environment.
Since 2003, more than 700 Solomon Islanders have benefited from Australia Awards, creating a distinguished alumni community that works across government, the private sector, academia, civil society, and other key industries.
Many alumni have gone on to make significant contributions to Solomon Islands' social and economic development while building lasting professional networks in both Solomon Islands and Australia.
The Australian Government supports alumni to:
- Build a vibrant and increasingly self-sustaining alumni community.
- Advocate for stronger Australia-Solomon Islands partnerships.
Showcase and promote alumni expertise, achievements, and contributions. - Strengthen professional networks and collaboration among alumni.
- Create opportunities for ongoing learning, leadership, and professional development.
Support on Return from Studies
Reintegration Workshop
The Reintegration Workshop supports returning Australia Awards Solomon Islands scholars as they transition back into their workplaces, communities, and the broader national context. The workshop helps participants navigate the opportunities and challenges of returning home after study, while ensuring they are well positioned to apply the knowledge, skills, and networks gained through their Australia Awards experience.
Through interactive sessions and peer learning, participants review and strengthen their Reintegration Action Plans, identify strategies to maximise their impact, and explore ways to translate their new capabilities into meaningful outcomes for their organisations and communities. The workshop also supports scholars to set career goals, enhance their professional effectiveness, strengthen leadership skills, and build networks with fellow alumni.
By supporting a successful transition home, the Reintegration Workshop empowers returning scholars to contribute effectively to national development priorities and drive positive change across Solomon Islands.
Job Ready Program
The Job Ready Program supports recent Australia Awards Solomon Islands graduates as they transition from study to employment. The program places graduates with host organisations across government, the private sector, non-government organisations, and community initiatives, providing valuable hands-on workplace experience.
Through these placements, participants develop practical skills, build professional confidence, expand their networks, and apply the knowledge gained through their studies in real-world settings. At the same time, host organisations benefit from the expertise, fresh perspectives, and enthusiasm of talented graduates who contribute to organisational goals and development outcomes.
By bridging the gap between education and employment, the Job Ready Program helps graduates strengthen their career prospects while supporting workforce development and capacity building across Solomon Islands.
