Three Alumni Who Helped Make History

Solomon Islands Australia Awards congratulates three alumni who helped make history with the Project Period Tax Reform — making Solomon Islands the first Pacific nation to remove tax on period products.

This landmark reform improves access to affordable products, breaking barriers to education, health, and participation for women and girls. We celebrate the contributions of:

Gladys Habu – Pharmacy, Monash University
Joel Fangalasuu – Law, ANU
Joseph Hika – Commerce, USP

Through their Australia Awards studies, they gained skills to influence policy and deliver reforms that advance gender equality and dignity for Solomon Islanders.
